Penang, Malaysia – According to a recent report by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), Penang has once again asserted its dominance in the nation’s export sector. The February 2025 data reveals that Penang’s exports reached RM40.5 billion, constituting a significant 34.2% of Malaysia’s total exports of RM118.3 billion.
The state’s export sector has demonstrated remarkable growth, with an increase of RM9.3 billion, or 29.9%, compared to the same period in 2023. In addition to its strong export performance, Penang’s imports also saw growth, rising by RM3.2 billion to RM24.2 billion, a 15.3% year-on-year increase.
Penang’s contribution to Malaysia’s overall import activity is also noteworthy, accounting for 22.9% of the nation’s total imports of RM105.6 billion for the month.
These figures underscore Penang’s pivotal role in Malaysia’s international trade landscape as of February 2025.
